Presentation Night 2010
The 2010 Presentation Night was held on Friday 21st May at the clubrroms. It was a great turn-out and was preceded by the AGM once again.

Inaugural Tiger Tangles
Inaugural Tiger Tangles
History was made at the Upwey-Tecoma Bowls Club on Sunday 11th April as Upwey-Tecoma hosted Richmond Union in the inaugural Tiger Tangles challenge.
7 rinks of triples from both clubs played 3 games of 12 ends in an effort to hoist the Tiger Tangles Shield aloft for the first time. The home side got the early jump on the visitors to be leading the overall score by the lunch break.
However, a determined Ricmond Union knuckleddown after a lovely lunch and, after a shaky start, powered home and were declared the victors.
At the presentation UTBC President Michael Walker presented the shield to RUBC President Trevor Walker. No relation - just eery!
It was a fantastic day played in weather conditions fromacross all 4 seasons. UTBC looks forward to making the trip to Richmond in 2011 for the return bout!

2010 Australian Indoor Singles - Victorian QualifyingThe Victorian leg of the qualifying for the 2010 Australian Indoor Singles will be held on Sat/Sun 19/20 June (sectional play) and the knockout play will be conducted on the weekend of Sat/Sun 3/4 July.
This event is open to all male bowlers and is a great way to get some rare singles match experience. The 10 qualifiers from Victoria will play for the Australian title at Tweed Heads in August. The entry form can be downloaded here.
Entries close on Tuesday 4th May.

Keep Friday night, 19th February FREE!
Round 18 of RVBA Metropolitan Pennant is being played in Sunday 21st February rather than Saturday 20th February due to the Finals of the Australian Open being played at Shepparton on that day.
Therefore, the Friday before our last Pennant matches for the year we're having a good old fashioned turn at the club. From 7.30pm at the club we'll be playing cards, darts, pool and anything else you care to bring along. We'll be ordering pizzas while we share a few drinks and speak about the season that has been what the coming months and season hold for UTBC.
Let Peter Jeffery know if you're coming and remember, this will be a great opportunity to catch up with your team-mates off the green and share a drink, a bite and a laugh. It promises to be a great night!

Club Singles Champion - 2009
The final of the Club championship singles was played on the evening of Monday 14th December between Liam Gray and Trevor Robertson. In a great match that saw the lead change on a few occasions, Trevor was the eventual victor with a scoreline 25-23.
Well done to both Trevor and Liam for a great game played in great spirits.

Special General Meeting - 6pm Thursday 19th November 2009
A Special General Meeting is being held at the club rooms on Thursday 19th November from 6pm to discuss and make decisions in relation to the following items of business:
1. With the vote for unification of the RVBA and VLBA being taken on 3 rd December 2009, it is prudent that the direction in which the delegates, and therefore the club, vote is determined by the membership.
Motion: That the Upwey-Tecoma Bowls Club direct their delegates to the RVBA to vote for unification between the RVBA and VLBA on December 3rd, 2009.
2. The BA and RVBA rules for attire state the following in regards to headwear: a white sun visor, bucket hat OR RVBA registered coloured hat, sun visor or cap may be worn. Such headwear in all Pennant and above Competitions must have the Bowls Australia logo. White blocked hats with club hatband may be worn. It would be prudent for the club to identify and register a colour for headwear to avoid any potential clash with an umpire or official on these grounds in the future.
Motion: That the Upwey-Tecoma Bowls Club declare the colour of club hats as yellow on the RVBA clothing register.
3. With many members having bought the new club coloured pants for use in competitions other than Pennant, it has been requested several times by several parties that the club seek to introduce these trousers as the uniform for Pennant and equivalent competition. To do this and allow all members the opportunity to put their view forward a discussion and subsequent vote on this matter should take place.
Motion: That the Upwey-Tecoma Bowls Club introduce coloured pants for wear by all Pennant and equivalent sides by August 2010 and no earlier than 16th January 2010.
Any further business for this meeting must be in the hands of the Secretary by 6pm Thursday 5th November 2009.
