Metropolitan Pennant - Round 4, 27th October

In a repeat of last weeks outstanding performance, all 3 sides again won their matches this weekend. Great result!

RVBA Metropolitan Pennant - Round 4, Saturday 27th October

The teams for Round 4 of the RVBA Metropolitan Pennant are now available here.

Once again, if you have not played so far this season please ensure that you are a paid-up, financial member prior to Saturday 27th October. If in doubt, see Tas Boyce and organise your subscriptions payment. No pay = No play.

Practice is on Thursday evening from 5.30pm. Be sure to practice with your rink members for this weekend if you are all in attendance. REMEMBER that there is a BBQ at the club this Thursday evening during training. Bring your appetite and show your appreciation to the chef!

If for any reason you cannot play on Saturday, please contact the Match Committee PRIOR TO Saturday.

Results from last weekend are available here. The top side beat Noble Park 2 winning three rinks. The second side beat Camberwell Central 2 - all rinks up. The third side beat Blackburn North 2. Great result for all 3 sides to win on the same day!

Metropolitan Pennant - Round 3, 20th October

For the first time in many years, all three teams won at the weekend. A massive congratulations goes out to the whole club. Actual results will be posted shortly.

BBQ after training - Thursday 25th October

Frank van Vloten has kindly offered to whip up a BBQ on completion of training next Thursday night, 25th October.

Make a night of it. Turn up for training from 5pm and hang around for a BBQ feed, a drink and catch up with your teammates and fellow club members.

Be sure to mark your calendar!

Australian Open 2008

The Australian Open is on between 17-23 February 2008. This event is held at the Darebin City Bowls Club and is the premier event on the Bowls Australia calendar.

Volunteers are needed to run the event, as with all bowls tournaments. Having volunteered at a couple of international events previously, I can recommend it. You'll meet many other like minded people and get to see some great bowls. Being part of an event like this is a great experience.

For anybody that is interested, the application form can be downloaded here. Applications close 14 December 2007.

For those that are interested in competing at the Australian Open, entry forms will be available shortly. Stay tuned.

Results from last weekend are available here. The top side went down to Clayton 3 by 15 shots, winning one rink and drawing one rink. The second side went down to Heathmont 6 by 28 shots with only one winning rink.

Metropolitan Pennant - Round 1, 6th October

Upwey Tecoma sides 1 & 2 both won and the third side had a narrow 1 shot loss.

The top side played at home and overcame Waverley Golf (who were relegated from Div 2 last season) 148 - 53 (all rinks up) for an 18-0 result. The rink by rink results were:

- Robin Southern 27-20
- Tom Perry 38-12
- Dave Jones 30-16
- Trevor Robertson 48-10

The second side won against Mulgrave CC 6 at Mulgrave, 98 - 76 with two rinks up, for a 14-4 result. The rink by rink results were:

- Jim Miller 23-24
- Simon Gringhuis 20-23
- Frank Van Vloten 26-14
- Col Benson 29-17

The third side lost to Heatherdale 1 by a single shot, 41 - 40. The rink by rink results were:

- Kevin Gamel 24-12
- George Simons 16-29
